A High Quality Camera Lens Ensures Good Photography

A camera lens is an optic lens that is attached to the camera and functions as of an eye. It visualizes the image, focuses on it and broadcasts color, sharpness and brightness of the image on a photographic film or any other media that can store that image chemically and electronically. A camera lens can be of fixed nature or it can be exchangeable with the lenses that have variant focal lengths and other properties. These lenses can be either made up of optical glass or plastic. Camera lens focuses on the light rays by refracting or winding them to make them meet at a common point.

Primarily there are three types of camera lens that are named on the basis of their focal lengths which are measured in millimeters. It has high optical quality with focal lengths as 50/55 mm or 90/100/105 mm. Fisheye lens gives a view of 180°. Shift or Perspective Control lenses are used specially to take the images of tall buildings. In addition to that, equipment that is fixed between the camera and the lens is a teleconverter. It is used to increase the focal length of the lens. 2x and 1.4x are the standard teleconverters. 2x converter is able to convert 200 mm lens into a 400 mm lens by reducing the amount of light passing through it.

There are many cameras that have detachable lenses. There are lenses that can be attached to the cameras with the help of a lens mount. The compatibility between lenses and camera depend upon the less mounts. Lens mount of one camera is incompatible with other. Lens adapter also plays an important role. It is fixed at the lens mechanism at the front of the camera providing support to the lens when it extends during camera operation. These adapters do not come in the way of lenses. They are made up of lightweight aluminum alloy or plastic. Some of the adapters are threaded in order to be fixed with the cameras while others have bayonet mounting. Lens hood enables to have a better picture, as it prevents the extra light to enter into the camera lens. When photos are taken in a bright light or back light, lens hood gives high quality pictures. It is available at the time of purchasing the camera or it can be ordered later also. Other important equipment that is used with the camera is a stabilizer.
